Plavac Mali wine has a bright ruby red color with fresh notes of cherry, sour cherry, berries and aromas of wood such as vanilla and tobacco. You will taste strong tannins and gentle acidity with a very elegant body in the mouth
Vineyard: located in Komarna, the youngest vineyard in Croatia, altitude 72-132m. The composition of the soil is 50% limestone, which contributes to rich minerality and nutrients. Parts of the vineyard have slopes of up to 40%, and the vineyard is located in the immediate vicinity of the sea. This ideal location allows the vines to receive optimal sunlight and heat due to the slope and stony soil that contains heat, and due to the proximity of the sea and wind while frost is avoided. Due to these parameters, grapes easily accumulate sugar and anthocyanins. Cold night temperatures throughout the year allow the grapes to retain a greater amount of acid. The inability of the development of diseases and pests is made possible by the organic production of grapes, and minimal amounts of copper and sulfur are used for protection and only organically certified fertilizer is used for nutrition. Most of the vineyard work is done manually.
TECHNOLOGY: grapes are harvested by hand during the night to preserve freshness and varietal aroma, after which they are sorted on selection belts. After silting it is macerated for 15-50 days, depending on the year and degree of extraction. The wine is then matured in new and used Croatian, French and American barrels. The wine matures for 18-24 months in barrels. After maturation the wine is transferred to stabilization in stainless steel tanks and after filling the wine ages in bottles for a minimum of one year before being put on the market.
