Say this three times fast: GRK, KULJENAČA, MRKUŠA!
While you may be laughing at more Croatian words with no vowels, these wines are nothing to laugh about. You’ll know when you taste them. Many receive high awards. Add to that labels designed by the locally living, yet world-renowned, artist Stipe Nobilo-- confirming that wine is art.

You may be familiar with the variety #Grk, an indigenous grape from the island of Korčula, which needs another variety for cross-pollination. It was first cultivated on Korčula by the ancient Greeks. On the island next to it, Mljet, or as it was called by the Greeks, Meleda or Melita (the name means “sweet as honey”), you can find similar varieties, with equally unpronounceable names. That island is also known for Odysseus’ sea cave - apparently where he recuperated after the battle of Troy. We think he stayed in the area because of the wine.

In first comment are the wines introduced by the ancient Greeks and made by the very talented Croatian winemakers. Note that Grk is produced in limited quantities, and because of the high demand, is often difficult to find even in Croatia.
Zure Grk -- A Decanter Gold medal for the 2021 – recently planted vineyards in Lumbarda, the very village in which the variety has been discovered, and the muse for the artist Stipe Nobilo’s impressions of Lumbarda and Korcula. Decanter Gold 95 points.

Many Guest from the neighborhood and who wither just returned from Croatia or Are going there. Thank you to Jonathon for embracing Croatian wines and as always coloring the learning with his witt.
