2017 was an excellent year in regards to climatic conditions which has led to perfect ripeness of the grapes. This wine is a blend of 90% Plavac Mali from top of the Dingač vineyard, average age of the wine is 80 years and 10% Welschriesling (Graševina) from Kutjevo (northern Croatia) co-fermented together. No sulphur dioxide has been added before and during fermentation and minimum intervention is used, hence the color of the wine is deeper which should be of no concern. Aged for two years in new French oak barrels, this wine is all about prunes, plums and dark fruits, elegant and balanced in the mouth with dark chocolate long aftertaste. This wine needs to be decanted at least 1.5h before enjoying as it has been intentionally made in this style and served at 64.0 Fahrenheit.
Best food match for this wine would be full bodied mature cheese like parmesan or manchego or roast beef with potatoes. (Note that this wine is unfiltered, and one should be prepared for expected sedimentation – this does not affect the quality.)
