Rusula is the old Dalmatian name for rose, which is why we christened our rosé wine Rusula to pay tribute our Dalmatian heritage. Rusula is made from our most famous regional red variety of Plavac Mali, with a small content of the international red variety of Syrah (up to 10%). Grapes for Rusula are picked in our organic vineyards, at locations that have been proven to give greater yields and optimum freshness. This wine is the perfect summer refreshment and features the character of its climate and variety. With the harvest of grapes for this wine, the harvest of our Plavac Mali variety also begins. VITICULTURE: The grapes for this wine are of the Plavac mali variety, which is the most famous autochthonous regional variety, together with a small content (up to 10%) of the Syrah variety They are sourced from our own organic vineyards in the Komarna winegrowing area. The vineyards are located on south-facing slopes with an incline of up to 30%, at an altitude between 50 and 250 meters. The earth is karst-like and consists of limestone with a small content of soil. The yield of wine per hectare is quite small and amounts to 18 to 27 hectoliters, which results in concentrated fruitiness and freshness. Irrigation is performed only in case of exceptional drought. WINEMAKING AND AGEING: Processing and vinification begin with the selection of grapes at our winery after they have been picked by hand. The owners perform this selection personally to make sure that only the best grapes are sent for further processing. The wine undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in a tank under controlled conditions. Rusula is created through brief contact between the skin and juice. After stabilization and filtering, the wine is filled into bottles in which it is aged for several months before it is released into the market.
TASTING NOTES: The wine shows attractive salmon pink color of mid intensity. On the nose exhibits aromas of red fruits such as raspberries, cranberries and fresh red cherries. On the palate it delivers a wonderful mouthful of fruit with silky texture, underpinned by balancing freshness that leads to a pleasant persistent finish. FOOD PAIRINGS: This is a great example of rose to be enjoyed with food, especially oily fish.
